Monitor Research is proud to showcase the newest member from the Bowers & Wilkins loudspeaker's highly-regarded CM series - the CM8.

The CM8 is a slim floorstander that shares many of the acoustic benefits of the series' award-winning flagship CM9, but is significantly smaller in stature.  It shares a similar footprint to the diminutive CM1 bookshelf loudspeaker - but its audio credentials are without questions; this is a refined hi-fi loudspeaker. It's a true three-way design, with twin dedicated bass drivers providing low-frequency extension and power. It also utilises Bowers & Wilkins FST Kevlar midrange drive unit, which adds precision and clarity to the vital midrange performance.

At the heart of the CM8 is a purist approach to loudspeaker design, with no artificial additives. By using Bowers & Wilkins most refined drive unit technology, the CM8 is able to hone the loudspeaker down to its core essentials. The CM8 uses minimalist crossovers of remarkable simplicity and clarity, so what you hear is that much closer to the sound of the original recording.

The CM8, which replaces the long-serving and well-regarded CM7, may be a very fine stereo loudspeaker designed for circuital audiophile listening. But it's also wonderful in a home theatre system when partnered with the CMC centre and CM1s at the rear, along with either the ASW10CM or the multi-award winning PV1 subwoofer. The CM8 is available in two high-quality real wood finishes (rosenut, and wenge), and gloss black.

Sony Bravia Line-up Updates

PDF | Print | E-mail

Sony releases new Bravia models for the 2nd half of 2010.  Changes are coming to the new Braivas in the EX7 series and the NX7/8 Series.

EX710 Series - The EX700 transitions into the EX710 (which exception to the 60 inch, which will continue into 2011).  The new EX710 family offers the widest range of sizes offered in the new Braiva lineup, a 32, 40, 46, and 55.  Features are virtually identical between the old EX700 and the new EX710.  The same Bravia Engine 3 will power the the EX710s.  Three minor changes will take place:  A thinner bezel (like the EX600 series), a change in size from 52" into 55", and a new and improved panel to produce greater colour re-creation.

NX710 Series - The small lineup of NX700 transitions into the NX710.  Like last year, there will only be two sizes available - 40 inch, and 46 inch.  Enhanced features includes a Dyanmic Edge LED backlighting system, Motionflow PRO 120Hz, and it will be 3D ready (will need to purchase glasses and transmitter seperately).  The Dynamic Edge LED backlight system is the same as the top-of-the-line XBRHX909 series, which adds more "grids" of LED backlight to deliver unbelievable blacks and brilliant whites.  The Motionflow PRO 120Hz further increases sharpness and delivers a smoother motion on top of the already enhanced smoothness of 120Hz, simply put an upgrade to the exisitng 120Hz.  Plus the already sexy monolithic design, this NX710 is a perfect TV for anyone who is looking for a premium mid-size everyday TV.

NX 810 Series - The premium NX800 series will also get a facelift.  The new NX810 series will use the same Dynamic Edge LED backlighting system as the new NX710 and top-of-the-line XBRHX909 series, a premium Motionflow 240Hz PRO motion smoothness design, an Opticontrast Panel, Flat back chassis for an even slimmer design (31mm about the same depth as my Blackberry Bold 9000!), 3D ready, and a new size (52 inch transitions into 55 inch).  The NX 810 family offers a good range of sizes for everyday viewing from 46, 55, 60.  The main difference between the NX810 family and the NX710 is the Motionflow PRO 240Hz.  The standard 240Hz adds two additional frame per second to the original filmstrip source of 60Hz, but like the NX710, the new Motionflow PRO engine will further increase sharpness while delivering a smoother motion than the starndard 240Hz from last year's NX800 family.  It is a good update to the already impressive 240Hz.
